You don’t have to keep figuring this out on your own

Jon Boschen, LCSW  Jon Boschen, LCSW is a therapist and licensed clinical social worker in Maine providing anxiety, trauma, and stress therapy for adults through in-person sessions in Waterville and through secure telehealth across Maine. His approach is direct, structured, and focused on helping people understand what’s driving their thoughts and emotional patterns so they can create real, lasting change

If your mind doesn’t shut off, you replay conversations, or feel stuck trying to “get it right” all the time - this is where things can start to shift.

Whether things have been building for a while or something recently knocked you off balance, this is a space to slow things down, get clear, and move forward again.

This is real work focused on meaningful progress—not just talking in circles.

Why clients choose to work with me

  • Progress you can actually feel: less overthinking, more clarity in your day-to-day life
  • Conversations where you feel understood and know where you stand
  • A focus on progress you can actually feel in your day-to-day life
  • A steady, grounded approach you can rely on when things get difficult

A Direct, Grounded Approach

Therapy shouldn’t feel vague or endless. It should help you understand what’s going on, feel more in control, and start seeing real change.

The focus is simple: understand patterns, build practical tools and create progress that lasts. This isn’t about staying stuck in insight - it’s about knowing what to do with it.

Therapy for Adults in Maine

Therapy for Adults in Maine

Jon Boschen, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker providing in-office therapy for adults throughout Central Maine, including Waterville, Bangor, Augusta, and Skowhegan, as well as secure telehealth across the state.

Many people come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck in their thoughts or constantly on edge without a clear reason. It can feel like your mind won’t slow down, like you’re always bracing for something even when nothing is happening. Often, it’s not just anxiety. It’s a nervous system that has learned to stay on- scanning, reacting and holding tension long after the moment has passed. Therapy focuses on helping you understand what’s happening underneath that constant pressure and begin shifting it in practical, grounded ways. Not just talking about it, but learning how to regulate it.

The work is direct, steady, and collaborative. Together, the focus is on making sense of patterns, reducing internal tension and helping you feel more stable, clear, and in control of your experience.

This isn’t about quick fixes or surface-level conversations. It’s about building awareness, creating real shifts and developing tools that actually hold up outside the therapy room. Telehealth therapy is also available statewide across Maine, making it easier to access support wherever you are.

Many people start by trying to understand why they feel constantly on edge or stuck in their thoughts. You can explore that more in my approach.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward, there is a way to begin shifting that and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

What People Come to Me For

Anxiety That Won’t Shut Off

Overthinking & Second-Guessing

Overthinking & Second-Guessing

When anxiety is running the show, your mind doesn’t slow down—it loops. You replay conversations, anticipate problems, and feel on edge even when nothing obvious is wrong. It’s exhausting, and it doesn’t just “go away” with logic.

In our work together, we focus on understanding what’s driving that constant activation and how to interrupt it. You’ll learn how your thoughts, body, and stress responses are connected—and more importantly, how to actually shift them so you can feel more steady and in control.

How I help with anxiety like this

Overthinking & Second-Guessing

Overthinking & Second-Guessing

Overthinking & Second-Guessing

Overthinking isn’t just “thinking too much.” It’s getting stuck in loops—second-guessing decisions, analyzing conversations, and trying to predict outcomes so nothing goes wrong. The problem is, it usually creates more stress instead of solving anything.

We work on breaking those loops. That means recognizing the patterns, understanding why your mind defaults there, and building practical ways to step out of it. The goal isn’t to stop thinking—it’s to stop getting stuck.

How I help break overthinking patterns:

Trauma & Hypervigilance

Chronic Stress & Burnout

Trauma doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it shows up as always being on edge, scanning for problems, or feeling like you can’t fully relax—even when things seem fine on the surface.

Therapy focuses on helping your system feel safe again. We work at a pace that makes sense, building awareness of how your body and mind respond, and creating ways to reduce that constant sense of threat so you can actually settle.

How trauma work actually moves forward

Chronic Stress & Burnout

Emotional Regulation/Self-Esteem Building

Chronic Stress & Burnout

Chronic stress builds slowly. You push through, stay responsible, keep showing up—and eventually you’re exhausted, irritable, or just numb. It’s not that you’re not trying hard enough. It’s that your system hasn’t had a chance to reset.

We focus on identifying what’s keeping you in that cycle and building realistic ways to shift it. That includes how you manage pressure, how your body carries stress, and how to create space to actually recover—not just push through.

How I help reduce chronic stress and burnout

Emotional Regulation/Self-Esteem Building

Emotional Regulation/Self-Esteem Building

Some people feel everything intensely. Others feel shut down or disconnected. Both can make it hard to respond the way you want in the moment—whether that’s in relationships, stress, or everyday situations.

Our work focuses on helping you understand your emotional patterns and build more control without suppressing what you feel. The goal is to respond with intention instead of reacting automatically or shutting down.

How I help you regain emotional control:

Relationships & Communication Patterns

Emotional Regulation/Self-Esteem Building

Emotional Regulation/Self-Esteem Building

Relationship patterns don’t happen by accident. The same dynamics tend to repeat—miscommunication, pulling away, overgiving, or feeling misunderstood—even when you’re trying to do things differently.

We look at what’s underneath those patterns and how they play out in real time. From there, we build more effective ways to communicate, set boundaries, and create relationships that feel more stable and clear.
